Flume have announced that they will release their long-awaited fourth album in May, meanwhile they are slowly preparing us with «Sirens».
The bizarre sounds of Flume and the melodious and sweet voice of Caroline Polachek come together in “Sirens”, a preview of ‘Palace’, the Australian’s most anticipated album. Flume wanted to explain how this collaboration came about since he and Caroline have known each other for a long time.
By coincidences of life Flume and Caroline now live on the same street and in one of their weekly meetings to play Magic The Gathering with friends, Danny L Harle showed an initial recording of Caroline’s voice to Flume and he loved it. That’s how it came about. Super spontaneous.
The video for “Sirens” is directed by Daniel Askill and evokes a certain mystical calm. It shows us Caroline Polachek floating as she sings and approaches a seemingly lifeless Flume. There are several conceptions that we have of mermaids since they are usually seen as very sweet mystical beings but, in many cases, they are ruthless beings. In this case, what do you think? We leave you to draw your own conclusions.
This “Sirens” will be included in ‘Palaces’ as “Say Nothing”, the collaboration between Flume and MAY-A that was revealed as the first track included in ‘Palaces’. This fourth Flume album will go on sale on May 20 and in it we can find jewels like this one.
